2026 Annual Plein Air Workshop

Description

This workshop focuses on learning to simplify shapes and values while painting outside (plein air) through small, focused studies. Working small allows artists to paint quickly, explore multiple ideas, and experiment with different approaches without the pressure of producing a finished painting. This mindset of practice over performance builds a strong foundation of skill and encourages creative risk-taking, leading to greater confidence and growth in larger studio work over time.

Each day will include brief classroom instruction, a demonstration—either in the studio or outdoors—and dedicated time for students to paint. During this practice time, Jane Anne will be available for individual guidance and critiques.

Open to both beginners and experienced painters, this workshop offers practical tools, insight, and encouragement for artists at any stage of their journey.

Materials

I’ll be painting in oils on prepared panels. A portable easel, basic brush selection, and standard outdoor painting supplies are recommended. A detailed materials list will be provided upon registration. If you have questions before registration, please call or text. Contact info on Website
